The Artistic Odyssey
Raised within an artistic lineage, Camélia Otero has forged her own path beyond academic convention. A self-taught female artist, she explores neo-expressionism and contemporary Art Brut through mixed media on canvas. Drawing from Picasso's radical freedom, Miró's lyrical instinct, and the primal resonance of the Lascaux caves, she has emerged as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary art — and increasingly, on the international stage.
Painter, sculptor, and writer, Otero is entirely self-taught — a trajectory that lends her work its distinctive urgency and directness. Her visual language draws on a lineage stretching from Picasso to Kandinsky, rooted in collective memory and the visceral power of the Altamira cave paintings.
Praised by renowned critics such as Vittorio Sgarbi, Luca Beatrice, Angelo Crespi, and Gian Mauro, she defines herself today as an "artivist": a female artist whose practice places art at the service of humanity.
